| The Florida
Construction industry has special law enforcement needs. One is to police
the unfair contract bidding of those who fraudulently underpay Workmans'
Compensation premiums ... a substantial, dishonest advantage. |
| Another is to prevent the
staggering loss of construction materials and equipment to theft.
An industry-proposed solution
is to assign special law officers paid for by the industry. Although widely
applauded, this idea has not been used because there has been no legal
method for handling it's funding ... until now. |
| Sheriff Candidate Biff Lagan,
has worked with Collier County Tax Officials to develop the needed procedures.
As a result, an industry funded Construction Deputy position could be created
in the Collier County Sheriff's Department. |
| This Deputy would be the
industry's contact to channel and coordinate construction industry cases,
develop familiarity with contractors and sites, and pursue field investigations. |
| As reflected in growth figures,
Southwest Florida has the busiest construction industry in the United States.
Biff Lagan knows the construction industry's law enforcement needs. If
elected, he is dedicated to meeting those needs through improved Resource
Management and Innovation. |
